On the way from Escoural to Évora, you will find the Escoural Caves (with an Interpretive Centre in the respective village), discovered in 1963. These caves, a national monument, are famous for their paintings and numerous rock engravings. In São Brissos, there is the Parish Church of the town (18th century), to find on the way to the town, the Ante-Chapel of S. Brissos or of N.ª Sr.ª do Livramento, a rare example of megalithic monument, transformed into a Christian temple, probably in the 17th century. In São Cristóvão you can visit the Parish Church and returning to Montemor, taking the way through Baldios, Casas Novas and Safira, you can find the ruins of the Church of the latter place. At the entrance of the town, there is the Hermitage of São Pedro da Ribeira (16th - 18th century), where you can appreciate the murals and, fundamentally, the fresco discovered behind the altar. In another direction, we can appreciate the Anta Grande da Comenda da Igreja, near S. Geraldo, a place where you can also visit the Church. In Ciborro, the Atabueira Dam is a very pleasant place and, following in the direction of Lavre, you can visit the Mine of the Painted Stones. In Lavre, a very old village and populated by D. Dinis in the XIV century, there is the Hermitage of S. Sebastião and the Mother Church of N.ª Sr.ª da Assunção, rebuilt in the XVIII century.
