Farm T5 in Santo António das Areias with 248 m²

Both houses to be restored are situated on a 1.55-hectare plot, entirely enclosed by an old wall built several generations ago, and combine: On the one hand, the wild landscape typical of the 'Serra São Mamede' Natural Park, where the hills are dotted with large granite boulders and covered with endemic holm oaks, cork oaks, chestnut trees, and olive trees. On the other hand, a flat wet area of approximately 2000sqm to the right of the access path, starting from a stream, where there is a well and a large vegetable garden. Following this path from the tarmac road, we skirt the property to reach the entrance gate, from which the land widens on either side of the path, further on to another gate. Just past the first gate, we find two houses in need of restoration: The first one, to the left, has a gross floor area of 211sqm including an upper floor and was inhabited until about ten years ago. The ground floor was formerly used for animals. A charming, vegetation-covered terrace stands on the front. It is surrounded by two small outbuildings, an open-air water tank and an old bread oven. The second one, to the right, measures 37sqm and is in complete ruin. There is also an adjacent outbuilding. From the houses, we can admire Marvão Castle, one of Portugal's iconic medieval villages, on the border with Spain. The Serra São Mamede is renowned for its dense vegetation and forests, as well as its cooler, wetter climate compared to the rest of the Alentejo region. Nature lovers will be captivated by this property, where they can revive the permaculture project and build two eco-friendly houses, using the architectural plans in final stage of approval by the town hall or making some modifications to suit their taste. The town's electricity grid reaches the property's gate and the water network is nearby. A small plot of land measuring 1750sqm is included in the sale. Located across the road, it is planted with many trees and shrubs. In the village of Santo Antonio de las Areias, less than a kilometer away, there are a few small commodities. Castelo de Vide, a 20-minute drive, is a small town with a lively social scene. The larger city of Portalegre is 30 minutes away.
